Illinois 18s Bunn Special RR 21J 2-tone Original 4oz Coin Silver Running Great! A fine 21 jewel railroad timepiece. This watch is running strong after a full service in 2021 and keeping good time. The 2-Tone is strong and the plates are beautifully damaskeened. The case appears to be original to the movement and is 4oz coin silver by Keystone. The covered open and close as they should. The case shows moderate wear. The watch runs strong and the lever-set / stem wound movement functions as new. Excellent balance amplitude and nice and flat. The original porcelain dial is very good but does have a small chip at 12:00 that is covered by the bezel. I also note a very fine hairline between 5 and 6. Overall, the watch presents very well. Special Railway 23J HC. 18 size 23 jewel hunting case lever-set Special Railway pocket watch movement/dial/hands. Beautiful high grade movement with gold jewel settings, gold balance screws, and a spectacular fancy 2-tone gold and nickel damaskeen finish. Fronted by its correct double-sunk enamel dial. Serial number is 1268005. Running but balance motion is quite sluggish and I think likely this movement hasn’t seen a servicing in many years. Absolutely beautiful movement with superb 2-tone color and luster. Dial has an outer chapter hairline between 3 and 4 O’clock, a light hairline above its seconds-register, an extremely faint hairline below its seconds-register at 28 minutes, and some small edge flakes near 30 minutes. Special Railway 23J HC. 18 size 23 jewel hunting case lever-set Special Railway pocket watch movement/dial/hands. Beautiful high grade movement with gold jewel settings, gold balance screws, and a spectacular 2-tone gold and nickel damaskeen finish along with gold flashed movement screws. Fronted by its correct double-sunk enamel dial with script signature. Serial number is 1447281. Running and a very nice looking movement with excellent 2-tone color. Balance jewel setting is a brass replacement. One case screw is missing fully half its head and should be replaced. Dial has some fractures to the left of its center hole, two hairlines below its seconds-register, and a few mild small edge flakes. Bunn Special 2-Tone HC. 18 size 21 jewel hunting case lever-set Bunn Special pocket watch movement/dial/hands. Very nicely finished high grade movement with gold jewel settings, gold balance screws, and a 2-tone gold circular damaskeen pattern. This example is currently in need of some attention but is a great candidate for restoration as its movement 2-tone color remains beautiful. Watch is fronted by its correct double-sunk enamel Gothic numeral dial. Serial number is 1356953. Mainspring seems likely broken of slipped, and balance is gummy. Very nice looking movement overall with superb 2-tone color, though the regulator assembly and the visible movement screw heads have oxide. One case screw is missing. Dial is beautiful with just a few very mild flaws – a small flake tight to the left edge of the center section, an extremely faint hairline above the seconds-register, and a few scattered small surface scratches or nicks. 18 size 21 jewel hunting case lever-set Grade 941 Special pocket watch movement/dial/hands. A rare and beautiful movement featuring a terrific 2-tone gold and nickel damaskeen finish and marked “Special” to its barrel bridge, this example is notable for the superb preservation of its 2-tone color. Watch is fronted by a double-sunk enamel dial with script Hamilton Watch Co. Running but balance motion is sluggish and I think likely this movement hasn’t seen any type of servicing in quite some time. Absolutely beautiful movement cosmetically with superb 2-tone color. Regulator assembly has some mild small bits of oxide, and barrel bridge has some marks to its inner perimeter adjacent the regulator adjustment screw. Dial faces up well though with some perimeter scrape between about the 43 minute and the 59 minute positions which was likely cased by the rubbing of a case bezel at one time.
