A beautiful Sterling Silver pair case verge fusee Pocket watch. Made by the watchmaker “William Hoplend of London”. The movement with winds smoothly, runs with a great motion. In all positions the whole chain down, keeps very good time for. An almost 200 year old verge watch, the movement is signed. Hoplend London, and the number 9724. The movement is recently fully serviced by a master watchmaker. The enameled dial is in a near mint condition, the crystal glass. Is a good clear condition. Made c1921 18 Size 17 Jewels Adjusted to Positions. Very Fine Sterling Dust Proof Case with Gold Train Inlays. Original Montgomery Dial has hairlines see pictures. Keeping time to a 20 Seconds per 24 hours carried in the pocket and resting for 7 hours dial up. No visible corrosion or tool marks on the movement. Regulator spring has discoloration. Sterling Silver Case retains lots of detail on the Gold Inlay. The watch was popular with intercity railway systems and was approved for such use. I have no history on the watch and made no attempt to regulate the watch for better accuracy. Please assume that the watch will benefit from being serviced. Hello and welcome to another of my listings!! Today for your consideration is this Handsome Waltham WM Ellery Pocket Watch!!! This watch is currently not running, it has a broken balance and it is in need of service. It dates to about 1881 and it is an 11 Jewel and it is an 18s, Grade WM. The case is a nice Engraved Sterling Silver case, it will have small wear, scratches, and dings as it was worn. The rear case is unattached and needs to be repaired by a jeweler who can weld. Rolex 15 Jewel, sterling silver mens half hunter pocket watch with silver Albert chain and box. 50cm across the case. The case by Dennison, model “Special”. Sterling silver hallmarked Birmingham 1926. In very good condition, some slight marks commensurate with age, no major scratches, some minor marks and minor dings, several jewellers marks inside covers. Engine turned pattern to front and rear, coin edged, vacant cartouche to center of rear cover. The front cover pops open with a depression of the crown, as it should. Front and rear covers open to 90 degrees. All hinges are good. Roman Numerals around front window match the main dial. Mineral glass front window and main crystal in perfect condition. The dial is bright and clean, has 2 hairline cracks , no chips. Black Arabic numerals, blued steel hands. Signed “Rolex Lever” “Swiss Made”15 jewel movement, subtle damascened. Clean and bright, fully serviced, inspected and tested. Fully serviced including modern alloy “unbreakable” mainspring. Comes with a fitted velvet pocket watch case and a silver cleaning cloth. Complete with solid 925 silver heavy gauge, 7mm Albert chain with antique stone set spinner fob. The chain is a modern production by Time Pocket Watches and Hallmarked 925 silver on T bar and clip. The fob is marked Sterling Silver Birmingham 1912. 46 grams in weight. Presented in a fitted, velvet pocket watch box with brass trim and a velvet pouch for the chain. There are multiple high definition super-sized pictures at the bottom of this page. A very good looking well made and decorative pocket watch, it is a Goliath as mentioned which is about 30% larger than a standard pocket watch. The case is in lovely antique condition, its easel backed so you can use this table mounted, I think the idea was protection and to sit on a bedside table or desk so you dont have to whip out your watch every time you need to check the clock. The watch has a white porcelain hand painted dial with blue hands, its signed Asprey Bond Street London, Swiss made, it has the normal minute and hour hands and then under a seconds subsidiary dial. The case is silver plated I think as I cant see any hallmarks, it does have lots of engraving including the word Argentan, Swiss and serial numbers. The back opens as one back plate, the original paper label is there which reads J Mortimer FBHI practical watchmaker jeweller 18 Kirkgate Ripon, you then open the second back plate which is also engraved with serial numbers and the word Argentan. The watch movement is protected by a glass plate which of course makes this an exhibition case. The watch operates perfectly and has a lovely sound. Date letter Q for 1915. The ships anchor for Birmingham. Sideways facing Lion for 925/1000 grade sterling silver. Height:- 9.2cm. Width:- 6.5cm. Depth:- 1.8cm. Width:- 10.2cm.
