CIVIL War 1864 American Watch Co. P. S. Bartlett 3 Oz. Coin Silver Hunting Case

This is a true Civil War classic American Watch Co. Bartlett most likely an 11 jewel with the large “window pane” jewels. The single sunk porcelain dial is in excellent condition with no visible hairlines or damage and comes with #5 key. The serial number is 161, xxx ca. It features a 3 oz. Coin silver hunting case in decent condition for it’s age. The front cover opens slightly past 90 and it has some minor battles scars as to be expected. Overall, the case is in good condition showing the typical wear and dings from 156 year life! The watch is running, but I don’t know when it was last serviced, so no guarantee to accuracy or extended run time. The movement is clean with typical aging. THIS IS PERFECT FOR A CIVIL WAR ERA AMERICAN 18 SIZE MOVEMENT LIKE AN AMERICAN WALTHAM, UNITED STATES MARION, OR TREMONT. JUST MAKE SURE YOUR MOVEMENT HAS THE LITTLE PIN THAT STICKS OUT ON THE EDGE OF YOUR MOVEMENT (NEAR THE 55 MINUTE MARK EDGE AS I REMEMBER) THAT SLIDES INTO THE HOLE OF THIS CASE. THE OTHER PART OF THE MOVEMENT IS HELD IN BY A CASE SCREW ON YOUR MOVEMENT. SOMETIMES SOMEONE HAS FILED THE LITTLE PIN OFF THE WORKS AND IT HAS TO BE RE-DRILLED AND A NEW PIN PUT IN THE MOVEMENT. NICE GLASS CRYSTAL AND GOOD QUADRUPLE HINGES. ANOTHER INTERESTING THING ABOUT THE CASE IS THE SERIAL NUMBER IS 3333. MARKED WARRANTED COIN SILVER. THE CASE WEIGHS 125.6 GRAMS. Always wanted a real gold case, Civil War Waltham. Added two pictures (1/17). First is a magnified view of the hallmark. Second is of a name engraved on the cover. Will add weight info in the next few days. Runs fine but has not been recently oiled. It’s keywind but no key is part of this sale. I own a single key that winds all my keywind watches. 1859 Pre Civil War Waltham 1857 with Gold balance and original case

Offered to you is this Model 1857 caliber P. Barrtlell key wind/key set Waltham pocket watch. By the serial number (21281) this watch dates to 1859 so its a good chance it might have been worn by a Civil War solder. The movement features a gold balance wheel. The dial is in very good condition for its age but there is a hairline between the 11 and 12 o’clock markers. It has a nice set of hands. The watch is running. Check out the last two digits of the cases serial number, they match the last two serial numbers of the movement. The lid is a little hard to open, the pusher is probably worn. The coin silver case does show some small dents but for a watch over 159 years old its in great condition. Watches this old don’t come available often so don’t miss your chance to own it.
