  CENTER SECONDS CHRONOGRAPH POCKET WATCH. Retired watch collector’s find: Newsome & Co. Coventry Made in England in 1890s for H. STONE, LEEDS Antique FUSEE chain driven movement (key wind, key set). Serial numer 116021 Unable to wind with the repro key shown. Measurements needed are shown on paper. Chain is in a separate bag. Broken spring in a bag, don’t know if a new spring is in the watch. The 51 mm double sunk porcelain dial is in decent condition (one hairline between XI and XII). It has some kind of side button (push or slide). Measures 61 x 72 x 19 mm, 183 grams total. Watchmaker wrote a note in the box (translated from French): “Have to replace fusee’s hook rivet to steel instead of brass; have to put a hook on the barrel”.   J. P. Stevens AURORA NEW MODEL Fancy Hunting Case 1885

  Stevens bought part of the Springfield Watch co. Of Massachusetts; and some unfinished watch components from E. He set up his watchmaking firm above his jewelry store in Atlanta, Ga. And started to produce the Bowman unfinished watches which were 16 size and various 18 size watches, to which was added the Stevens Patent Regulator. This regulator is best described as a simple disc attached to the plate which has an eccentric groove cut for the arm of the regulator to move in. This regulator is a prominent feature of the J. Stevens plate with damascening. The pallets were equidistant locking and needed greater accuracy in manufacturing. About 50 of these watches were made. The pallet and fork are made of one-piece aluminum. The aluminum was combined with 1/10 copper and formed an exceedingly tough metal which will not rust or become magnetized. The lever of this watch is only one-third the weight of a steel lever. The aluminum lever affords the lease possible resistance for overcoming inertia in transmitting power from the escape wheel to the balance. In the spring of 1887, the company failed. Only 169 true Stevens watches were made, but other watches carried the J. This example is a J. Stevens AURORA NEW MODEL, 18 size, hunting model, Full Plate Nickel plates, lever set, marked: J. 141,717, 15 jewels. The nickel plates are in excellent condition, free of distractions. The case is a very fancy yellow gold filled hunting case free of initials and closes tight. This watch is running, but when placed upside down, it stops. Therefore, we are offering this rare watch on a “as is” basis. THIS IS A FINE COLLECTIBLE. DON’T INVEST IN THE STOCK MARKET OR BONDS. OTHER NICE FEATURES: Free U. The item “J. P.
